How To Prepare For A Job Interview

Have you ever wondered why you didn’t get the job after interviewing? Have you prepared the best you know how for a job interview?

You thought you had all the right qualifications, skills, and correct answers. But somewhere, something went wrong. What was it?

Many of us take for granted that we know how to interview... but behavior does not always follow knowledge. Have you prepped beforehand? Have you done any of the following below?

  • Google the company

  • Read the company’s press release

  • Visit the company’s website

  • Utilize LinkedIn to find out who works there

If you were interviewing for a company, what are 3 things you know about the company? If you can answer that, you’ve become a more serious candidate.

If this is a zoom or skype type of interview, have you prepared the device you’re going to use beforehand? Meaning have you already downloaded the program you need prior to the interview?

If this a video interview, have you assessed your camera, lighting, and where you’re going to have the interview? Have you factored in possible exterior distractions?

What if it’s a phone interview? Do not take the call while driving. Limit the background noise if there’s any and please answer the call yourself. One more thing to also consider – even though it’s a phone interview you still want to dress for success. Why? Well, if you’re interviewing over the phone in joggers, you’re probably thinking, they can’t see me. True. But you may come off less professional in your tone or your conversation. If you’re dressed appropriately for your interview your dialogue will tend to flow more in a more proficient manner.

We hope these tips you better prepare for your next interview!
